A local civil rights advocate is blasting the law enforcement response to the mob of rioters who stormed the U.S. Capitol.

"Had Black people stormed the Capitol the same exact way, we would have witnessed a massacre on live television," says Kenneth Chamberlain Jr.

He says it was a double standard shown by law enforcement toward white rioters as they stormed the Capitol as opposed to the Black Lives Matter demonstrators who took to Washington last summer.

"We saw the advantage that white people have over non-white people," he says. 

Chamberlain lost his father, Kenneth Chamberlain Sr., in a police shooting in White Plains back in 2011,

He believes his father would still be alive today if he was white.

"This is what we talk about when we talk about skin privilege or white privilege, my father did not have the right skin complexion, to survive what happened to him almost 10 years ago," he says.

President-elect Joe Biden acknowledges there is a difference in how Black and white protesters are treated by law enforcement.

"No one can tell me that if it had been a group of Black Lives Matter protestors yesterday, they wouldn't have been treated very, very differently than the mob of thugs that stormed the Capitol," he said.
