A champion baton twirler from Suffern is headed to the "Olympics" of baton twirling in Europe next week.
Richie Terwilliger, a Suffern college senior, is the No. 2 ranked man in the country for twirling.
He will be heading to Nottingham, England next week to compete against the best in the world at the Baton Twirling Championship.
Terwilliger, who has been twirling for almost a decade, picked up the sport from watching his little sister compete.
He says it's a sport that requires not only athleticism and precision, but also incorporates everything from dance to gymnastics to the baton twirling itself.
