Catalytic converter thefts on the rise in Eastchester

Catalytic converter thefts are on the rise in Eastchester.
The police department posted on their Facebook that the thefts are taking place during early morning hours and that the thieves are commonly driving stolen vehicles with temporary license plates.
On Sunday, Eastchester police say they were called to the Green Knolls area of town for a possible theft. When officers arrived, they found the two vehicles they believe were stolen.
When police tried to pull them over, the suspect fled on high speed south on Garth Road, onto the Bronx River Parkway, and were last seen on I-87 in Yonkers toward New York City.
Due to the potential danger to both the public and officers involved, officers discontinued trying to stop the vehicles.
