Carmel police are providing Halloween safety tips as trick-or-treat season begins. 

Officers recommend people stay in well-lit areas that they know well, and trick-or-treat in a group. 

Use flashlights, glow sticks or reflective clothing to make sure you're seen. 

If you're driving, be extra aware as young kids may run into the road suddenly. 

Keeping that in mind, if you're out walking, use crosswalks and cross at street corners.
