An elderly woman almost drove her car into a church in Mamaroneck this morning.
Police say the accident happened around 6:30 a.m. in front of St. Vito's Church on Underhill Avenue.
The woman's husband tells News 12 that she put the car in drive instead of reverse and drove straight over a ledge. A metal gate helped stopped the car from hitting the church. She was able to crawl through the backseat and get out to safety.
While the car suffered heavy damage to the front driver side, the woman was just shaken up and not seriously injured.
