The smell of burning tar lingers after Friday?s chemical plant fire, but air readings show that there is no danger in the area. However, the streets near the warehouse will likely remain closed for a few days, causing local businesses to suffer.

Business owners along South Fulton Avenue are worried about what this will mean for their bottom lines. ?We have customers coming in here for estimates all the time, almost every hour,? Ray Trischetta, owner of Mancuoso Auto Body Shop, says.

Officials have spent the weekend trying to clean up all the toxins, but the building still isn?t structurally sound. The chemicals being removed from the warehouse are being taken to a DPW facility in the city for storage.

Officials say they won?t know the exact cause of the fire until they can get inside the structurally unsafe building. They say that even then, the damage might be so bad they may never find out.
