Two cousins are safe at home after being buried under 5 feet of snow in Newburgh last week.
Aulix Martinez says she has a heart full of gratitude after her son Jason and his 11-year-old cousin, Elijah, were rescued after being trapped in a snow pile for about seven hours last Wednesday near their home.
The boys were building a fort when a plow came by and trapped them.
The boys said they could see family members and police searching frantically for them just a few feet away through an air pocket that had formed in the snow pile.
At around 2 a.m., Officer Brandon Rola saw footprints and a shovel, and started digging out the boys.
The boys are now home, healthy and doing well.
