A massive police search has come to a tragic end, as the body of a 55-year-old Long Island man was found in FDR State Park.
Police say they began searching for the man Wednesday after they found his Toyota Corolla unattended at the park. They continued their search this morning using helicopters and police dogs. The body was found along a wooded trail, near a pool, just after 11 a.m.
Police would not say how the man died, or how long he had been lying on the trail. They are looking into the possibility that he took his own life.
The name of the victim has not been released. Police say they were notified by his parents that he was missing.
