Police say they are investigating the death of a man found in Spring Valley as a homicide.

Spring Valley police say they responded to the area of the Maple Avenue Convenience Center around 1:10 a.m. after a report of CPR being conducted on a subject because of an unknown medical emergency.

When an officer arrived, he located the caller and the deceased man on Johnson Street, near N. Myrtle Avenue.

Police confirmed the victim died of a stab wound.

Family tells News 12 the victim is a Hispanic man in his 50s, but police have not yet confirmed the victim’s identity.

Investigators have been using K-9s to aid the investigation.
