Westchester County is taking time to honor its trailblazers this Black History Month.
A virtual event called "Trailblazers - Preserving our Legacy" was held at the Jay Heritage Estate in Rye.
The event featured sculptor Vinnie Bagwell, who is credited with reframing public art to include historic Black figures and images cast in bronze and bronze resin.
Bagwell created the sculpture of Ella Fitzgerald that now stands outside of the Yonkers Metro-North Train Station.
Two members of the Westchester community were also given the Civic Engagement Award and the Madam CJ Walker Award.
