BITTER BLAST: Cold returns to the Hudson Valley ahead of a rain and snow chance this weekend

The frigid feel is back along with stronger wind for a couple of days.
The wind will not be as strong as last week when we had gusts up to 55 mph, but gusts out of the northwest around 20 to 35 mph paired with colder temperatures will still make it feel like the teens to low 20s during the afternoons today through Thursday. Please dress in layers and limit exposure to the bitter cold.
It will mostly be dry during this latest cold stretch, but a brief snow shower cannot be ruled out each day through Thursday.
Friday will feel better with high temperatures topping out around 40 degrees under sunshine.
WEEKEND WEATHER IMPACTS?
Rain, not snow, is looking likely for Saturday afternoon and evening. While there can be some mixing north of I-84, this will mostly be a light rain event.
Sunday is looking drier now, but there can be a period of light snow late Sunday night into early Monday morning. There is equal chance at this point that it stays mostly dry. The News 12 Storm Watch Team will watch it closely for you and have updates on-air, on social media and the News 12 APP.
COLDEST STRETCH OF WINTER YET NEXT WEEK?
High temperatures may drop into the low 20s for a couple of days next week. The coldest days at this point look to be next Tuesday and Wednesday. These would be our coldest actual air temperatures of the season yet.
