"Cabaret" at the Kit Kat Club prepares to open with two powerhouse performers at the helm: Billy Porter as the Emcee and Marisha Wallace as Sally Bowles.
The production transforms the August Wilson Theatre into the immersive “Kit Kat Club,” transporting audiences to 1930s Berlin with a sultry, speakeasy-style experience.
“I’ve always wanted to do this show,” said Porter. “This is one of the greatest examples of art.”
It’s a full-circle moment for the Grammy, Emmy and Tony Award winner, who first auditioned for Cabaret decades ago. This marks Porter’s return to Broadway after nine years.
“I’m just happy to be home,” he said, “Broadway is my home. No matter where I go, no matter how I expand, I will always come home.”
The pair says this version of Cabaret isn’t just a revival — it’s a reinvention with a message that resonates in today’s world.
“It’s a call to action,” said Porter. “Do not sit still, do not be quiet. Let’s come together and fight this. History is not just one group’s fight — it’s everybody’s fight.”
Catch the duo in "Cabaret" at the Kit Kat Club at August Wilson Theatre in Manhattan until Oct. 19.
