The Bedford Police Department welcomed a new addition to their unit.
Four Bedford police officers are volunteering to help train 8-week-old Maverick over the next 16 weeks.
Maverick will also spend his days at police headquarters so the entire department can have a hand in raising him.
If all goes well, Maverick will graduate as a service dog in December 2023 and go on to aid a child with autism.
"It's a little unique. It's kind of a different approach for a police department and all of its members to raise and contribute to raising a puppy like this," says Chief Melvin Padilla.
