Holiday deliveries aren’t even safe from bears in the Hudson Valley this year.
With Thanksgiving around the corner and Amazon boxes piling up on porches, one Cornwall family learned they’re not the only ones eagerly checking for packages. Home surveillance video from Sky Drive shows a black bear strolling up to a house Wednesday night and casually swiping a delivery.
Neighbors say bear activity in the area has been “crazy and relentless.” One bear recently dragged a neighbor’s garbage can hundreds of feet down the road.
This time, the stolen box wasn’t exactly a high-value haul — it contained pancake mix and cheddar crackers, but clearly the bear had good taste.
Wildlife officials remind residents to bring in garbage, keep food and scented items inside as bears remain active heading into the colder months.
