A South Salem auto shop owner was burned to death Wednesday after a vehicle he was working on caught fire.
Officials say James O'Connor was working on a car at around 10 p.m. when the car caught fire. Officials say O'Connor tried to move the car outside to get it away from the shop when the car slammed into another vehicle.
Officials say both cars were fully enflamed with O'Connor pinned inside. Authorities say O'Connor died from smoke inhalation and burns sustained from the incident.
Investigators say the incident is not considered suspicious.
Friends and neighbors of O'Connor say he had a heart of gold and was a family man. O'Connor lived in Connecticut and leaves behind a wife and four children.
