Authorities say a driver died after a two-car accident in Yonkers Friday morning.
They say a Mercedes-Benz was going southbound and a Jeep was going northbound on Central Avenue around 7:30 a.m.
The Jeep was making a left turn onto Arlington when it was struck by the Mercedes-Benz.
That Mercedes continued southbound, striking a light pole and a tree, before catching on fire.
Authorities say the driver of that car has died, but the Jeep's driver appears to be fine.
Yonkers resident John Tepelidis says this area has been a problem for a very long time.
"This corner is very dangerous corner, they come out of that tunnel, coming down Central Avenue, 100 miles an hour, they ignore the lights, and every night is the same thing. I'm here 35 years, and I've seen at least a dozen fatalities here," he says.
Sources say the victim of the crash was a man in his early 20s.
