A Briarcliff High School student appeared in court Wednesday to answer charges that he stabbed another student.

According to police, the assault occurred in the victim?s home in Briarcliff Manor Saturday night. There were reports there has been an ongoing dispute between the two over a girl. Police say the victim was stabbed in the chest. The 15-year-old suspect was arrested and charged as a juvenile with first-degree assault.

The defense attorney says he doesn?t know if the district attorney will pursue the criminal case or if it will be referred to Family Court. The suspect was released to his parents on $15,000 bail. The victim is recovering from his wounds.
