Police have made an arrest in a hit-and-run crash that killed one Bronx teen and critically injured another.
According to investigators, 26-year-old Shawn Williams, of the Bronx, struck 16-year-old Dylon Ramirez as he was crossing the street at Baychester and Crawford avenues in Edenwald at around 5 p.m. Sunday.
Ramirez was thrown into another lane where he was hit by a second car. Officers have yet to identify that vehicle, but say that both drivers kept going.
The mother of Ramirez says her son was walking home from the grocery store with two female friends when he was hit. One of the girls who was walking with Ramirez was also hit and remains in the hospital in critical condition.
Police say that Williams returned to the scene about an hour later. He's facing charges of reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death.
Ramirez's mother says her son was a junior at Bronx Preparatory High School, and the second oldest of four boys. He lived in the Edenwald Houses, only blocks away from where he was fatally struck.
