ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Folklore, legends and things that go bump in the night will be explored in the annual "Capitol Hauntings" tours at New York's state capitol.

The popular tours run from Sept. 25 through Nov. 1. They're free, but pre-registration is required because space is limited. Registration can be done online .

Tour guides tell stories about the night watchman who died in the Capitol fire of 1911. Some believe he still makes his rounds today. There are also tales of two U.S. presidents who visited the Capitol after they died.

Visitors will explore the Capitol's gargoyle-like carvings and stone faces and learn the location of the building's "secret demon." They'll also learn about the Assembly chamber's "lost murals," and what happened to the tormented artist who created them.
