Businesses owned by members of the African-American community in the Bronx are reporting that they are unfairly treated because of Ebola coverage in the news.

Djounedou Titikpina, the head of the African Alliance for Guidance, says he has received phone calls in the past few weeks from African-Americans who own businesses in the Bronx. Business owners say people have been making ignorant comments about Ebola to them or staring awkwardly. Hair salons have also reported that customers have refused to come in upon learning their stylist is from Africa.

Titikpina says it is important to know that Ebola is very difficult to transmit and the public has nothing to be afraid of.

The African Alliance for Guidance will be holding an Ebola awareness walk Saturday on Fordham Road.
