Voters in Putnam County will decide Thursday who will represent the GOP in this year's district attorney election.
Incumbent District Attorney Adam Levy has defended himself against accusations by his opponent, Putnam Valley Supervisor Bob Tendy, that he improperly interfered in a sexual assault trial.
Last week, Levy said that County Sheriff Don Smith admitted in a deposition that those allegations were false. News 12 received a statement from Smith saying that he stands by the truth about his comments regarding Levy.
Levy is accusing Tendy of failing to comply with campaign finance laws, a charge the town supervisor has denied.
Both candidates say they want to be judged on their records.
Polls open Thursday at 6 a.m. and close at 9 p.m.
