Somers man arrested, accused in knife attack outside home

Both the victim and Mendoza Gomez were transported to Westchester Medical Center for treatment and evaluation.

A Somers man is behind bars after a July 17 knife attack, state police said.
Troopers responded to a home around 12:30 a.m. after reports of a fight. They found the victim injured outside the home and the suspect, identified as Andres Mendoza Gomez, 47, locked inside.
Both the victim and Mendoza Gomez were transported to Westchester Medical Center for treatment and evaluation.
After an investigation, troopers determined that Mendoza Gomez had attacked the victim with a knife, inflicting multiple lacerations.
Mendoza Gomez was arrested upon his release from the hospital. He was charged with assault, menacing and criminal possession of a weapon.
He was arraigned in Somers Court and sent to the Westchester County Jail. The victim's identity was not released.
