Below is a list of event cancellations and facility closures due to coronavirus concerns, compiled by the News 12 editorial staff based on information from news releases and from official sites. These are not closures that have been entered into the News 12 closing application. Closing, early dismissal or delay information entered into the closure application is the sole responsibility of officials.

Social Security offices will not be accepting visitors. Many services are available online. Anyone with a critical need that can not be addressed online can call 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778). CONNECTICUT:
Brookfield Craft Center - We have determined that it is in the best interest of our community to cancel our schedule of classes and open studios for the rest of March. CIAC - The Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference has canceled the remaining state tournaments due to concerns over the coronavirus.
Cirque Du Soleil - Crystal performances canceled at June 17-21 at Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport.
Concordia Conservatory - Will continue to provide much-needed music and art therapy to Stamford’s students with special needs. The Conservatory’s Arts for Healing Department will be releasing a series of videos each week for preschool, elementary, middle and high school students.
Connecticut Post Mall -
In order to ensure the health of those around us, Connecticut Post Mall will close effective 3/19/20. We will continue to monitor the status of COVID-19 in our area and reopen based on guidance from our local health authorities. CT Lottery - CT Lottery has extended its claims expiration period by 30 days for all tickets originally due to expire from March 16 – April 14, 2020. The CT Lottery has temporarily adjusted its claims process
Danbury Courthouse - Closed after employee tested positive for COVID-19. All cases reassigned to Waterbury GA Courthouse at 400 Grand St.
Town of Darien - Barbers, hairdressers, cosmetologists, nail technicians, estheticians, eyelash technicians and massage therapists orrder to close until further notice starting 8 p.m. March 19.
Town of Darien DPW - The DPW will continue to provide services albeit without face to face contact. Please conduct your business and service requests via telephone, internet, and emails. Our transfer station is OPEN. Please avoid gathering at the transfer station and maintain social distancing. The swap shop is CLOSED until further notice. DEEP - The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection
is closing to the public certain satellite office locations, branch facilities, and high-traffic visitor centers within State Parks and Forests. The closures will remain in place indefinitely. At this time, all trails and outdoor facilities of the Connecticut State Parks and Forests will remain open to the public. Visitor
centers closed to the public include:
- Meigs Point Nature Center at Hammonasset Beach State Park in Madison
- Kellogg Environmental Center in Derby; Dinosaur State Park in Rocky Hill
- Gillette Castle Visitors Center in East Haddam
- Putnam Memorial State Park Visitors Center in Redding
- Fort Trumbull State Park Visitor and Conference Centers in New London
- Sessions Woods Conservation Center in Burlington
- Franklin Swamp Wildlife Conservation Center in Franklin
- Goodwin Forest Conservation and Education Center, Hampton
- Closed DEEP facilities: Kensington, Quinebaug and Burlington Fish Hatcheries; Marine District Headquarters in Old Lyme; Eastern District Headquarters in Marlborough; and Western District Headquarters in Harwinton.
DEEP will continue operations at these facilities, but will not be allowing members of the public to visit. Department of Motor Vehicles -
Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Commissioner Sibongile Magubane announced effective as of the close of business on March 17, 2020, all DMV Branch Offices will be closed to the public for the transaction of business until further notice. The Department of Motor Vehicles has added vehicle registrations, emissions testing and other items to the extension period for Connecticut residents with expiring credentials. Eligible DMV credentials that expire between March 10, 2020 and June 8, 2020 are automatically covered by this extension.
Edge Fitness Clubs -
Classes will be streamed live on Instagram and Facebook. The virtual classes are free, and open to the public. Fairfield County Catholic - Starting March 16 at 8 p.m.,
all weekday and Sunday public Masses celebrated in the presence of the lay faithful are temporarily suspended in the Diocese of Bridgeport. F.A.I.T.H. Food Pantry -
F.A.I.T.H. Food Pantry will not be operating under its regular hours in efforts to limit exposure and protect their patrons and volunteers. Any resident in need of food can contact F.A.I.T.H directly.
Kennedy Center -
All Kennedy Center Community Experience programs, the Transition to Employment Program and the Autism Project are closed, starting Monday March 16 through Sunday April 5, 2020. Newtown parks - All parks, including the dog park, are closed with the exception of Pole Bridge and Orchard Hill Preserves for hiking.
Northeast Fishing and Hunting Show - The show is canceled in response to increasing public health concerns about coronavirus. The show was scheduled to take place on March 20 to March 22 at the Connecticut Convention Center. There are no plans to reschedule the event.
Riverdance 25 -
March 19-22 performances of Riverdance 25 at Toyota Oakdale Theatre will not be happening as scheduled. However, the tour is working on postponing the show to new dates, which we will share with you as soon as we know them. Trumbull Parks and Recreation - All public parks, playgrounds, open spaces and athletic fields/courts will be closed beginning at sunset on Monday, March 16, 2020.
Westmed - Beginning Tuesday March 17, Westmed will temporarily close several site locations throughout Westchester and Fairfield, including the postponement of elective procedures, and reduction in overall volume of in-person visits at the offices that will remain open at this time. Westport Library - Will remain closed until further notice. Our book drops will also be closed, and we are waiving all late fees on Westport owned materials. LONG ISLAND:
Catholic Diocese of Rockville Centre -
Beginning Monday, March 16, 2020 at 3:00 PM, all Masses (weekday and weekend), meetings, and non-essential activities in our parishes are suspended or postponed through Tuesday, April 14, 2020. This will include all Holy Week and Easter Liturgies. However, these will be televised and available online. Brookhaven - All town playgrounds are closed to the public.
Jake's 58 - Casino will be closed until further notice.
Nassau County - County Executive Laura Curran has closed some county-owned leisure facilities beginning at 5 p.m. March 13. Read the full list

Staller Center for the Arts - Stony Brook University and the Staller Center for the Arts continue to closely monitor the guidance provided by the CDC and New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) and has determined that out of an abundance of caution, at this time, all events planned for the month of March are canceled.

As a preventive measure, the Executive announced that the following County facilities will be closed for two weeks, from Saturday, March 14 to through Friday, March 27th:
- Essex County Vocational School District
- Essex County Turtle Back Zoo
- Essex County Codey Arena
- Essex County Golf Course: Francis Byrne Golf Course, Hendricks Field Golf Course and Weequahic Golf Course
- All community centers and senior buildings located within the Parks System
- The Parks Department will not issue any new permits for events being held within this time period. Jenkinson's Boardwalk - Out of an abundance of caution, we have chosen to close our doors to the general public through the end of the month.
Hoboken Historical Museum - The museum will remain open to visitors, but visitors are asked to call ahead. Events and classes suspended through the end of the month.
Chief Justice Rabner announces 2-week suspension of municipal court sessions.
New Jersey Transit - Beginning Friday, March 20, NJT's rail lines, with the exception of Atlantic City Rail Line, will operate on a weekend schedule with slight modifications. Gladstone Branch rail service will operate on weekdays only. Eight extra trips will operate between Dover and Hoboken during weekdays only.
NEW YORK CITY:
Mayor Bill de Blasio is limiting food service and closing a variety of venues in an effort to contain the rapidly spreading coronavirus outbreak.
Affordable Art Fair NYC - Spring edition canceled. It will return September 24 – 27 at the Metropolitan Pavilion, Chelsea.
Broadway - Broadway shows temporarily suspended due to ban on large gatherings in New York.
Bronx Council on the Arts - Saturdays, March 14th, 21st and 28th workshops will be postponed until further notice. We hope to reschedule new dates in April or May. The March 18 Exhibition Opening will be postponed, and the Gallery will be closed until further notice starting Monday, March 16th. Bronx Documentary Center - In response to concerns around COVID-19, the Bronx Documentary Center will close our facilities and cancel all scheduled events and on-site educational programs.
Bronx Zoo - All locations closed until further notice.
Brooklyn A - Brooklyn A has closed our offices to the public at 260 Broadway, Williamsburg, and 1471 Fulton Ave., Bedford-Stuyvesant, effective Monday, March 16, 2020.
Brooklyn Academy of Music - In support of efforts to restrict public gatherings and slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus, BAM has postponed the following upcoming programs: The Old Vic's Lungs; Riz Ahmed's The Long Goodbye; Wesley Morris and Jenna Wortham's Meeting in the Ladies' Room; Candoco Dance Company; 100% Brooklyn; and book launch events for Alicia Keys' More Myself; Sasha Geffen's Glitter Up the Dark; and David Lan's As If By Chance: Journeys, Theatres, Lives.
Brooklyn Museum - Closing beginning Friday, March 13, until further notice.
Brooklyn Tabernacle -The Brooklyn Tabernacle will not be having public meetings or events of any kind until further notice. This includes our Sunday worship services as well as our Tuesday Night Prayer Meetings.
Carnegie Hall - All events from March 13 through March 31 canceled.
Chabad Lubavitch of Riverdale - Will not be holding Shabbos services at Chabad this week and Chabad Early Learning Center will continue to remain closed.
City Parks Foundation - Partnership for Parks programming will cancel, postpone or move to webinars some of its events.
Chelsea Piers -
In response to the ongoing spread of COVID-19 in New York City and Connecticut, and on the advice of public officials who are strongly urging social-distancing, Chelsea Piers Management announced today that the three Chelsea Piers properties, Chelsea Piers New York (Manhattan), Chelsea Piers Connecticut (Stamford) and Chelsea Piers Fitness (Chelsea and Brooklyn) will temporarily close as of March 12th at midnight. The closure is through Tuesday, March 31, 2020, but may be extended based on the coronavirus situation. Coney Island - Opening day of the Amusement District attractions, Deno’s Wonder Wheel Amusement Park and Luna Park in Coney Island, is postponed until further notice.
Coney Island History Project - Postponed walking tours, group visits to our exhibition center, events at schools and senior centers, and in-person oral history interviews until further notice. FITBK/FITQB - Effective immediately, FITBK/FITQB will temporarily suspend all classes and programming until further notice.
Guggenheim - Exhibition dedicated to Jackson Pollock's 'Mural' postponed.
Met Museum - All 3 museum locations to close starting March 13 until further notice.
New York International Auto Show - As a result of the ongoing health concerns from the spread of the coronavirus in the region, the New York International Auto Show has been rescheduled to August 28 – September 6, 2020. Press days are August 26 and August 27, 2020.
New York Road Runners Half Marathon - Due to the rapidly developing coronavirus (COVID-19) situation, the NYC Half, scheduled for Sunday, March 15, and the accompanying Rising New York Road Runners youth event, have been canceled.
NYC Health - In-person ordering of certificates is suspended until further notice. You can order your NYC birth and death certificate online or by mail.
Parks Department - All city recreation and nature centers are closed to the public until further notice. City parks and playgrounds remain open.
Regional Enrichment Center (REC) will open on March 23 to alleviate the stress of child care issues during the city’s COVID19 response. It will be available for children of first-responders, health care workers & our most vulnerable citizens.
Summer Youth Employment Program - New York City suspends the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) for Summer 2020 due to COVID-19.
Tribeca Film Festival -
We have made the difficult decision to postpone the 19th Tribeca Film Festival (April 15-26) based on the announcement by Gov. Andrew Cuomo that events of 500 people or more are banned due to the spread of the novel coronavirus. WESTCHESTER & THE HUDSON VALLEY AREA
Cultural Education Center -
Will temporarily close to the public effective 5:00 pm on March 15. Please note that this closure is not due to any current known positive cases of COVID-19 at the CEC. The CEC will close out of an abundance of caution to limit social gathering spaces due to public health concerns and to protect our staff and the public. The closure is effective for the public spaces of the State Museum, State Library and State Archives. Enrico Fermi Educational Fund of Yonkers - Originally scheduled for May 3, 2020, The Enrico Fermi Educational Fund of Yonkers announced today that it would postpone the 57th Annual Enrico Fermi Scholarship Breakfast.
Harrison school parks and playgrounds - Closed. Police will be taking notice, and sending home those found in violation.
Metro-North - Metro-North Railroad will commence an amended Saturday schedule on the Hudson, Harlem, and New Haven Lines on Friday, March 27, until further notice. City of Mount Vernon - Alternate Side parking suspended until further notice. All alternate side tickets received since Monday, March 16, 2020, will be forgiven.
New Jersey Transit - Starting March 20, New Jersey Transit trains in Orange and Rockland counties will go on a weekend schedule.
New Rochelle Public Library -
The New Rochelle Public Library is postponing its public programs until the end of March, assuming an extension will be unnecessary. New Windsor Town Hall - Effective Thursday March 19 New Windsor Town Hall and Recreation Offices will be closed to the public. Employees will be available daily between 10 am and 4 pm to conduct business via phone, email and website...They will be closed through March 27 as well.
Palisades Mall - Palisades Mall is closed, but Stat Health Medical Services will remain open. Patients can access the office by entering the 4th floor entrance next to Target.
Port Chester Senior Center - The center will be closed for business beginning March 16. It will not reopen its doors for programming for two weeks, and will not open before March 30.
Putnam County Senior Centers/Adult Day Service Sites -
Executive MaryEllen Odell has announced that all senior centers and adult day service sites will be closed for two weeks from Monday, March 16 through and including Friday, March 27. Meals will instead be delivered at home for those who need them. Regeneron Science Talent Search -
The Society for Science & the Public and Regeneron have made the difficult decision to postpone the 2020 Regeneron Science Talent Search (originally planned for March 5 to March 11 in Washington, D.C.) until this summer out of an abundance of caution regarding COVID-19 and in order to prioritize the health and safety of everyone who attends our events. The Field Library - The library is canceling all programs for the remainder of the month.
Tuckahoe Library - AARP Program Chapter 2961 meeting at Tuckahoe Library is cancelled for this Monday 12pm
Westmed -

Yonkers parks - Effective immediately, parks are closed to the public.
Yonkers Arts Weekend: Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano announced that the City of Yonkers will postpone its seventh annual Yonkers Arts Weekend (YAW) to Saturday, Oct. 3 and Sunday, October 4 and extended the open call for artists deadline to Tuesday, April 21
by noon.
