Police say celebrations in Manhattan turned destructive after the Knicks won the NBA championship, with tens of thousands of fans flooding the streets north of Madison Square Garden.

In total, 63 people were arrested, and 10 NYPD officers were injured.

A 17‑year‑old was shot at 43rd Street and Broadway. Police had to take him to a hospital because ambulances were unable to reach the location. A gun was recovered, and three people of interest are in custody.

Police also reported four slashings, five school buses set on fire or destroyed, five NYPD vehicles heavily damaged and several personal cars smashed.

Fans lit fireworks in packed crowds, climbed poles and scaffolding, and large fights broke out. Streets were shut down for hours as people refused to disperse.
