Six people were injured, one of them critical, after a car crashed through a library in Spring Valley.
Police say the accident happened at around 7:40 p.m. Tuesday at the Finkelstein Memorial Library on Route 59. According to police, the man behind the wheel told them his car suffered mechanical failure.
The car came to a stop in the lobby where a 15-year-old girl was pinned underneath. Emergency crews rescued her and she was taken to Westchester Medical Center in critical condition.
Around 50 people inside the library were evacuated. Five other people were taken to area hospitals, including the driver, who police say was very shaken by the accident.
