Five young males were arrested and two were treated for stab wounds after a fight broke out between a group from Mount Vernon and another from Spring Valley.
Police say the trouble started at the Palisades Mall Thursday night, where the two groups first encountered each other. Somehow the groups ended up at the Spring Valley Commons, a housing complex on Slinn Avenue, where things quickly escalated, police say.
According to police, during the fight two 16-year-old boys were stabbed, one in the back and another in the hand. Both wounds were non-life threatening. Police say car windows were smashed and a tire iron was confiscated during the confrontation.
Police arrested five of the males from Rockland, ranging in age from 17-22 years old. They were all charged with disorderly conduct. Four were released on their own recognizance. The fifth suspect was sent to Rockland County Jail because of an additional arrest warrant.
