Four teenagers are now facing gun charges after
City
of Poughkeepsie police found a loaded handgun in the car they were driving.
Police say that they made a traffic stop last Friday just after 11
p.m. in the area of Maple Street and Roosevelt
Avenue.
The driver, Ahjanay Sanders,19, had three additional teenage juveniles in the car.
While speaking to the occupants of the vehicle,
officers observed a loaded .40 caliber Smith and Wesson handgun with defaced
serial number protruding from under a seat.
Everyone in the car was taken into custody and
brought to headquarters for questioning.
All four teens are now facing criminal possession
of a weapon felony charges.
During the questioning, a 17-year-old female
became combative and attempted to spit on officers while throwing chairs and
damaging property. She was additionally charged with the misdemeanor of
criminal mischief.
All
suspects were held pending arraignment with the exception of a 15-year-old female who was
released on a juvenile appearance ticket.
