Caught on Camera: Driver sought after mirror-smashing road-rage incident on Belt Parkway

For the past month, Vidour Liliah has been trying to identify the man seen in the video — the same man who’s caught on camera kicking off the mirrors of Liliah's van in what is described as a “crazy” road rage incident.

Exclusive video shows a shocking act of road rage on the Belt Parkway. A man is seen violently kicking the mirror off a work van following a collision.

For the past month, Vidour Liliah has been trying to identify the man seen in the video — the same man who’s caught on camera kicking off the mirrors of Liliah's van in what is described as a “crazy” road rage incident.

“I thought he was crazy,” said Liliah. “Because, I mean, if you get into an accident, the first thing to do is to come out and make sure everyone is OK, but he came out right away and he was just really aggressive. I guess he wanted a fight with me.”

Liliah says the confrontation began after the driver, now believed to have been in a rental vehicle, sideswiped his van. What followed, he says, was completely unexpected.

“The driver opened my door and started yelling at me,” said Liliah. “And he slammed my door in. He started banging on my glass. He went to the back of my truck, opened my back door. I guess he didn't see anything. And he slammed it.”

Liliah says he waited nearly eight hours for police to arrive. By the time help came, the suspect had already disappeared.

“I was calling 911 every hour,” he said. “Every hour until 11 p.m. — almost midnight. I couldn't move from the scene because it is unsafe to drive a vehicle without one mirror. And I didn't have two of them, so I couldn't even move the truck.”

Since the incident, Liliah says police told him there’s little they can do unless he decides to press charges.

Even then, he says the license plate tied to the suspected driver traces back to a Pennsylvania rental — with no clear link to a legitimate business.

“That’s my work truck. That’s how I make a living,” he said.
“So I had to replace it on my own — come out of my pocket and replace the mirrors. I just want to know what was going on inside his head, for him to crash out like that, because I’m not a bad person. We could talk like normal people.”

Based on the suspect’s behavior in the video, it’s hard to believe any normal conversation would have been possible.

The search for the driver continues.
