An SUV rammed into the Centerport Fire Department building early Monday morning, leaving the driver trapped for over an hour.

Fire officials say the driver initially collided with a tree on Centerport Road around 2:19 a.m.

This led to the accelerator becoming stuck, sending it hurdling into the station at the intersection of Fort Salonga and Little Neck roads.

The driver was trapped inside the SUV but remained fully conscious and alert. Crew members removed debris and a vehicle parked nearby.

Fire officials say they used hydraulic tools to extricate the driver, who was then taken to Huntington Hospital for treatment.

Their injuries were minor, according to Suffolk County police. No one else was hurt during the incident.

The Huntington Town Building Inspector was called in to assess the building damage.
