The family of a Farmingdale man has been given a deadline to arrange transport to another medical facility or NUMC will be allowed to determine if he is brain dead.

The latest court order signed on Tuesday by Nassau County Supreme Court Justice Donald X. Clavin Jr. provided a 24-hour window, which ends at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

As News 12 has reported, Anthony Gestone, 23, has been hospitalized after suffering critical injuries from a car crash on Apr. 10.

The single-vehicle collision happened around 11 a.m. on the Wantagh State Parkway northbound near Exit 5 in Wantagh, when he crossed over the center median and hit a tree, according to state police.

Gestone’s parents petitioned the hospital to stop tests that would determine if their son was brain dead citing their religious beliefs.

NUMC tells News 12, “Our medical team has clinical concerns that should be addressed in order to ensure we are providing the right care. We remain hopeful for the best possible outcome.”
