Deno's Wonder Wheel Amusement Park on Coney Island is officially opened for the season. The opening was marked with the annual blessing of the rides.

The Vourderis family, who own and operate the park, led the ceremony that was filled with dancing, speeches and a blessing of all 22 rides by Pastor Mary Smith of Coney Island's Salt & Sea Mission.

The first 106 guests got to ride the wonder wheel for free to celebrate the 106th year of the park.

As the screams of excitement returned to the boardwalk, so do the feelings of nostalgia.

"I've been coming here since I was in diapers," said visitorJay Fern. "It's my favorite place to be in the spring, in the summer.
