"We're touring areas like this one, here on Bishop Avenue in the East End, because we want folks who live here to be prepared for what could become a perfect storm of severe weather conditions," Ganim said.

Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim spent Monday touring low-lying areas of Bridgeport, which he said "hold the potential for becoming extremely dangerous for residents."

"We're touring areas like this one, here on Bishop Avenue in the East End, because we want folks who live here to be prepared for what could become a perfect storm of severe weather conditions," Ganim said.

"This railroad bridge is about 25-feet high, and it sits above high-voltage wires. That's why we're asking folks to steer clear of these areas -- and certainly not to park here," Ganim said.

"If you were to park here in the 100-block of Blshop Avenue, there's a good chance your vehicle could become damaged. There's also a good chance it wouldn't start, when you get in, due to water damage. I mean, this is a 25-foot incline between this point and Connecticut Avenue. These are dangerous low-lying areas that should be avoided at all costs," Ganim said.
