A double transplant survivor who inspired "Lauren's Law," is fighting for her life again.

Lauren Shields is just 25 years old and has already had her fair share of organ transplants.

"I've already received a heart and a kidney," Shields says.

Five years after her second transplant, the Stony Point resident says she's now in need of a third one.

"In February, I had a hospitalization, super high blood pressure, I knew something was wrong," Shields says. "Unfortunately, they discovered that my kidney function was declining."

Shields says she's desperately looking for another donor because her kidney function is only at 13% right now.

While she waits for the next transplant, she continues to work as an organ donation advocate at events around the state where she advocates for Lauren's Law, which helps people sign up for organ donation through the DMV.

"I want to continue to advocate for other people and the thousands that are still waiting for their transplant and hope that in the process, I find a donor along the way," Shields says.

Shields says she prefers her match to be someone who is alive.
