The opening of a time capsule at West Point that possibly dated back to the late 1820s appears to have come up empty.

The time capsule was found inside the base of the Thaddeus Kosciuszko monument, which dates back to 1829. The discovery was made during a renovation of the monument.

Kosciuszko was a Polish freedom fighter who came to the United States in the late 1700s. He eventually helped design the academy's campus in Highland Falls.

Experts are going to test some of the silt and rocks that were inside to see if they can determine what might have been in the box.
