A parole hearing is on the horizon for a Dutchess County man who has been incarcerated for 33 years following the murder of his parents and brother.
Brian Britton, 50, was initially slated for an interview last month. However, a spokesperson from the State Corrections Department revealed that the hearing was postponed and will now be rescheduled for September or an earlier date.
The shootings occurred in the family's residence in the Town of Poughkeepsie in 1989, when Britton was 16 years old. Only his sister, then 18 years old, survived the ordeal.
Britton was supposed to be released earlier this year after being granted parole. The Dutchess County District Attorney's office and Britton's sister jointly urged the Parole Board to reconsider their decision.
The board agreed, and then subsequently arranged a new parole hearing.
