It was a busy day for police and rescue crews at the Tappan Zee Bridge Thursday after two people died jumping off the span within an hour.
Rescuers were first called to the bridge around 1:30 pm. Police say a 55-year-old man from Montvale, New Jersey pulled his car over on the southbound side, got out and jumped into the cold waters of the Hudson River. Then, about an hour later, police say a 27-year-old Ossining man stopped his car on the northbound side of the Tappan Zee and jumped off, falling about 150 feet into the water.
Both men were pulled from the Hudson and rushed to Nyack Hospital by ambulance, but efforts to save them were unsuccessful.
State police are investigating, but don?t believe the incidents are related.
