Two construction workers have been released from the hospital after they were rescued from a collapsed trench Thursday in Rye.
The two workers were repairing a leak in the foundation of a house on Bradford Avenue when the trench they were in collapsed, burying them chest-deep in dirt. The homeowner called 911 and emergency crews brought in specialized equipment to suck out the dirt from around the two men.
The two men were rescued from the hole about an hour after the collapse. The hole was then secured by emergency crews.
Both men were conscious and alert when they were rescued and brought to Westchester Medical Center.
