Thieves target elderly in Yonkers senior complex
Police are investigating a string of robberies targeting the elderly in Yonkers.
The robberies have occurred at the Flynn Manor Senior Citizens Complex on Riverdale Avenue. Police say a 71-year-old tenant was robbed early Saturday morning. The second victim, a 92-year-old blind woman, says she was roughed up and had more than $200 in cash stolen. She says it is the second time she has been robbed since September.
Some tenants are speculating the thieves may be operating from within the building, and could possibly be the work of younger tenants illegally living with their grandparents. Tenants are asking the Yonkers Municipal Housing Authority to get involved.
