A quick moving clipper system dumped a fresh coating of snow on the Hudson Valley this morning.
News 12 meteorologists say most of the region got up to around two inches of snow.
The snow and frigid temperatures combined to create black ice situations on many of the area's roadways. The slick conditions are being blamed for numerous accidents.
A tractor-trailer heading northbound on the Mario Cuomo Bridge slid into the concrete barriers, pushing them into the southbound lanes. Fifty gallons of diesel fuel was spilled, and crews had to perform emergency repairs.
The cold temperatures are expected to remain until the weekend so officials are warning motorists to take caution because the roadways are expected to remain icy.
Those who didn't commute said they enjoyed the weather that followed after the snowfall. Some even enjoyed shoveling the snow.
"I usually have it plowed, but it’s such a beautiful day, I wanted to go outside," said Joyce Kanyuk of New City.
About two dozen Rockland Highway Department trucks salted and cleared the roads, but officials still warned drivers to take it slow.
Cold temperatures are expected to remain until the weekend.
