Rye asks FBI for help after school threats
Concerns at Rye Middle-High School continued Tuesday after a series of threats at the campus.
A bomb threat Monday marked the fourth time this school year that the campus had to be evacuated due to a threat. Officials have now asked the FBI and the High Tech Crime Bureau to help investigate the problem.
A threat written on the wall of a boy's bathroom on the second floor of the Rye Middle-High School was discovered at around 9 a.m. Students and staff were quickly evacuated and taken to nearby schools. The buildings were cleared and classes resumed by noon.
Frank Alvarez, the Rye school superintendent, sent a letter home to parents that said law enforcement officials asked the district not to reveal case specifics so their investigation can continue unhampered.
