A burglary incident in Elmsford escalated into a tense standoff with law enforcement on Sunday afternoon, culminating in the arrest of a Port Chester man identified as Edgar Martinez.
Authorities claim that Martinez was involved in burglarizing a business located on Undercliff Avenue around 4 p.m. Prompted by the burglary report, police responded to the scene.
Following an investigation, law enforcement located Martinez at the Days Inn motel. Given the severity of the situation, they called upon the assistance of the county's SWAT team to resolve the standoff safely.
After a standoff that lasted into the night, Martinez was eventually apprehended by authorities. Subsequently, he was arraigned in village court, and he is set to appear again tomorrow for further legal proceedings related to the incident.
