Orange County DA: 2 men arrested in Walmart knife fight that injured a police officer

Authorities say Benjamin Pagan and Chandler Riggin were engaged in a physical altercation during which Riggin brandished a knife.

Two men are facing charges after a knife fight in Walmart that injured a Town of Wallkill police officer.
The incident happened Saturday inside the store on Route 211 in the Town of Wallkill, according to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.
Authorities say Benjamin Pagan and Chandler Riggin were engaged in a physical altercation during which Riggin brandished a knife. Pagan broke the officer’s left hand while the officer tried to arrest him, according to prosecutors.
Pagan is charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and assault. Riggin is charged with menacing, and criminal possession of a weapon.
Authorities did not say what prompted the altercation. Both men were ordered to Orange County Jail on $10,000 bail.
The Town of Wallkill Police Department has not returned News 12’s requests for information.
