The number of people injured in deadly explosions at Verla International in Orange County has now jumped to more than 125.
A hospital spokeswoman says they treated dozens of people for minor injuries such as smoke inhalation after the fire at the Verla International cosmetics factory at 463 Temple Hill Road.

The Newburgh fire chief says seven firefighters were among the injured during the fire. Chief Terry Ahlers says many more could have been hurt since some were nearly trapped inside the factory while looking for missing factory worker William Huntington. An explosion inside the facility caused a wall to collapse and fall on top of rescuers, forcing them to abandon their efforts in order to save their own lives. "The lieutenant got separated from his entire crew. He finally found a door to get out," says Newburgh City Fire Department Chief Terry Ahlers. "The last guy, just as he was running out of air, they were able to find him."
Huntington’s body was found several hours after the flames were finally extinguished.

Verla International has a recent history of serious OSHA safety violations, which cost the company thousands in fines.
