With town taxes due in Mount Pleasant in just a few days, homeowners rushed into the Receiver of Taxes Office on Friday to pay their bills.
Town officials say they sent out 10,000 tax bills on March 25, but a post office mix-up prevented hundreds from getting their proper paperwork.
Many of those residents live in the Foxwoods Condominiums in Pleasantville. It's not clear how homeowners didn't receive their tax bills, but town officials insisted the problem is not on their end.
The post office is aware of the issue. Police told News 12 that an investigation into the missing bills is underway.
Mix-up or not, taxes are due by April 30. Town officials say the date is firm, despite who is at fault.
