Jury possibly deadlocked in 1993 murder case of Lucius Crawford
The jury deliberating a second murder charge against Lucious Crawford says they may be deadlocked after almost a week of deliberations.
Crawford, 63, is on trial for the 1993 murder of Laronda Shealy, of Yonkers. Last week, the same jury convicted Crawford of the 2012 murder of his girlfriend Tonya Simmons in her Mount Vernon apartment. He's already spent time in prison for stabbing women in South Carolina.
The jury sent out a note Monday saying they could not come to an agreement on counts of second-degree murder and possession of a weapon. The note said they haven't moved toward an agreement since they started deliberating last Tuesday.
There is no DNA evidence tying Crawford to Shealy's September 1993 murder in the stairwell of a Yonkers apartment complex. A witness saw the two together before the murder.
Crawford will be sentenced to a minimum of 15 years to life in prison for killing Simmons.
