Iowa tests Clinton's presidential bid
The Iowa caucuses will play a pivotal role in the presidential bid of Chappaqua?s Sen. Hillary Clinton.
Clinton, Sen. Barack Obama and John Edwards are locked in a very tight race for Democratic ?08 presidential hopefuls in Iowa, and it's a toss-up for the Republicans as well. Voters in Iowa historically play an important role in a candidate?s bid for president.
Experience is what Clinton hopes will give her the edge in Iowa over chief Democratic rival Obama.
"I hope that as you go into the caucus you will be thinking about the most important question of them all. Who can be the best president for America in this time to meet the challenges and seize the opportunities that await us?" said Clinton.
However, in the final Des Moines Register Poll on Wednesday, Obama was ahead with 32 percent of the vote to Clinton's 25 percent. The senator from Illinois claims he's the agent for change in status-quo Washington and is appealing to undecided voters.
On the Republican side, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee leads in Iowa, followed by Mitt Romney, the former governor of Massachusetts. Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuiliani will be in Florida Thursday after stopping in New Hampshire Wednesday.
