First responders rescued an injured hiker in Rockland Monday after he fell from a ledge on Hook Mountain.
It took four hours for a Nyack Fire Department's High Angle Rescue Team to reach the 35-year-old Long Island man at Nyack Beach State Park, on the north side of Upper Nyack.
Clarkstown police say they learned of the fall around noon. They say the hiker slipped on a steep embankment and fell.
Rescuers helped the man into a basket secured by 1,200 feet of rope and lowered him down the side of the mountain.
The hiker was taken to Nyack Hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, officials say.
Rescuers say hikers should stick to marked trails to avoid similar injuries.
