Here are some of the stories making headlines in the Hudson Valley.
A Middletown man is now facing charges after allegedly shooting two teens in Port Jervis. Mario Mateos, 21, is accused of shooting two 16-year-olds Monday night at the intersection Barcelow Street and Seward Avenue. Mateos has been arraigned and sent to Orange County jail. He faces up to 25 years behind bars.
A former North Castle restaurant owner will serve two years behind bars for fraud. Barbara Meyzen, the former owner and operator of La Cremaillere Restaurant in Banksville, was sentenced in connection with her multi-year scheme to defraud the restaurant's lenders, mortgagee, bankruptcy creditors and customers. This includes charging almost $150,000 in restaurant and personal expenses to credit card accounts of two customers.
An investigation is now underway after a fatal crash in Gardiner. Police say it happened Wednesday morning on Bruynswick Road when Thomas Griffin, 32, of Walkill, crossed over onto the southbound lane and struck a Honda Accord. Griffin was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators say he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The driver of the Honda was hospitalized.
