The race to fill a vacated Westchester County Board seat is officially underway, with Democrats and Republicans naming candidates.
Real estate broker and Democrat Ken Jenkins is meeting with friends and supporters in his bid to replace Andrea Stewart-Cousins' vacated 16th District seat. Stewart-Cousins left the post after beating incumbent Republican Nick Spano for a New York State Senate seat. Jenkins says he is the best candidate who can continue to serve the community well.
Republicans plan to officially name community activist Cicely Greaves-Vega as their candidate on Tuesday. The Yonkers GOP chairman says Greaves-Vega's record on education, curbing violence and creating housing opportunities will persuade the largely Democratic area to vote Republican in the February 13 special election.
