A father and son sprung to action Monday to save a woman from drowning in a Somers pond.
Brett Cappelli and his son Brenden were barbecuing and about to eat when they heard a woman screaming. Brenden Cappelli says he jumped over a deck and ran to the woman as soon as he could.  Brett Cappelli arrived shortly after his son to help pull the frantic woman to safety.
Residents believe the woman was feeding geese when she fell into the water.
The water isn't that deep, but the Cappellis are familiar with the danger.
"My oldest son was 19 years old and he drowned this past June 11,” says Brett Cappelli. His son drowned at a creek in Chatham.
The necklace he wore as he jumped into the pond to save the woman contains ashes of his son's body.
